Washington State Democrats Revive the Know Nothings

I know Mark Miloscia.  He’s a very good man, motivated by a genuine desire to live out social justice–the whole deal and not the cannibalized variety promoted by both left and right.  And for his troubles, the Democratic party to which he belonged for years made extremely clear that they are some of the rankest anti-Catholic bigots since Nathan Bedford Forrest donned a bedsheet and founded the KKK.  When he finally could not take it any more, he switched parties and the Left in the state has come after him with propaganda so crude it rivels Jack Chick.  Indeed, they’ve made such embarrassing spectacles of themselves that the Telegraph in England is taken aback by it.One hopes that Catholic Democrats in Washington–especially those in Federal Way–will stand up to this filthy bigotry.And if they don’t, I for one would cheer if Miloscio exercised the Belloc Option. Hilaire Belloc, running for a Parliament seat was confronted with similar rank bigotry from his countrymen. In response, he pulled a Rosary from his pocket and said, “Sir, so far as possible I hear Mass each day and I go to my knees and tell these beads each night. If that offends you, then I pray God may spare me the indignity of representing you in Parliament.”
