St Louris De Montfort 2016 New Year Resolution: Find out the Quickest, Surest, Easiest Way to become a saint

True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin is one of the greatest and most celebrated books ever written about Our Lady. Praised by popes, mystics and theologians, this profound and powerful book presents Mary as the essential and infallible key to the heart of Jesus. Nowhere will you find a deeper and more life-changing book on that quintessentially Catholic doctrine: the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the life of the Christian and the life of the Church.

Unpublished during the saint’s life time, it has enjoyed the endorsement of the many outstanding popes the Church has been blessed with since its discovery in 1842. Saint Pope John Paul II, in particular, was its tireless champion, crediting True Devotion with a turning-point in his spiritual life, adopting his motto, Totus tuus, from St. Louis.

totus tuus

The key to De Montfort’s Marian spirituality is that he considered Our Lady to be the infallible and chosen gate to the heart of Christ – To Jesus through Mary: It is Christ Himself Who is at the centre of True Devotion. (A little side St. Michael Catholic Radio fact: All radio stations have what are called call signs or call letters. When St. Michael Catholic Radio had to pick our letters, we chose KPIM. This stands for the Latin phrase, “Kalo per Iesum Mariam” or “Call Jesus through Mary”)

True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, is a book that JP2 said he never went a year without reading. It would be a great Christmas gift/stocking stuffer.

Quotes from Saints about Our Lady:

“Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.”

-Saint Maximilian Kolbe

”Jesus honored her before all ages, and will honor her for all ages. No one comes to Him, nor even near Him, no one is saved or sanctified, if he too will not honor her. This is the lot of Angels and of men.”

-Saint Maximilian Mary Kolbe, Martyr

“If anyone does not wish to have Mary Immaculate for his Mother, he will not have Christ for his Brother.”

-Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Martyr

“Mary seeks for those who approach her devoutly and with reverence, for such she loves, nourishes, and adopts as her children.”

-Saint Bonaventure, Doctor of the Church

“We never give more honor to Jesus than when we honor his Mother, and we honor her simply and solely to honor him all the more perfectly. We go to her only as a way leading to the goal we seek – Jesus, her Son.”

-Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

“The reason why Christ is unknown today is because His Mother is unknown.”

-Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman

“If you invoke the Blessed Virgin when you are tempted, she will come at once to your help, and Satan will leave you.”

-St. John Vianney

“If you ever feel distressed during your day — call upon our Lady — just say this simple prayer: ‘Mary, Mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now.’ I must admit — this prayer has never failed me.”

-Blessed Mother Teresa

“Love our Lady. And she will obtain abundant grace to help you conquer in your daily struggle.”

-St. Josemaria Escriva

“The greatest saints, those richest in grace and virtue will be the most assiduous in praying to the most Blessed Virgin, looking up to her as the perfect model to imitate and as a powerful helper to assist them.”

-Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

“Have you strayed from the path leading to heaven? Then call on Mary, for her name means “Star of the Sea, the North Star which guides the ships of our souls during the voyage of this life,” and she will guide you to the harbor of eternal salvation.”

― St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort, The Secret Of The Rosary

Here’s a little preview of the book:

St. Louis said to do before Holy Communion:

Humble yourself profoundly before God. Renounce your own corrupt nature and your own dispositions, however good self-esteem might make them appear. Renew your consecration saying: Tuus Totus ego sum et omnia mea tua sunt: “I am all thine, my dearest Mistress, and all that I have is thine.” Beg this loving Mother to lend you her own heart, that you may receive her Son with her dispositions. Remind her that her Son’s glory requires that He should not come into a heart so stained and fickle as your own, which could not fail to diminish His glory and might perhaps lose Him. Tell her that if she will take her dwelling in you to receive her Son, which she can do because of the dominion she holds over our hearts, He will be well received by her without stain and without danger of being outraged or lost: “Deus in medio ejus non commovebitur.” Tell her with confidence that all you have given her of your goods does little to honour her, but that by your Holy Communion you wish to make her the same gift as was given her by the Eternal Father, and that thus she will be more honoured than if you had given her all the riches of this world. Tell her finally, that Jesus, whose love for her is unique, wishes still to take His delight and His repose in her, even thought it be in your soul, dirtier and poorer than the stable to which Jesus willingly came because she was there. With these tender words beg her to lend you her heart: “Accipio te in mea omnia. Praebe mihi cor ruum, O Maria”, “O Mary, I take thee as my all; give me thy heart.”

“Reading this book (St. Louis de Montfort’s True Devotion to Mary) was to be a truning point in my life…. This Marian devotion… has since remined a part of me. It is an integral part of my interior life and of my spiritual theology.”

– Saint Pope John Paul II
