…by an American politician.Takes a conference intended to help the suffering Christians of the Mideast, climbs atop a giant mound of dead Christians, and hijacks the conference in order preach about the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the State of Israel. When the crowd demands he stick to the purpose of the conference and not used the sufferings of the Mideast Church in order to give himself street cred with John Hagee “blood moon” nuts and other parochial American apocalyptic kooks, he dramatically declares a room full of Semites to be anti-semitic and storms out, to the braindead applause of Breitbart and the Thing That Used to Be Conservatism.The Week and Rod Dreher do the autopsy on this repulsive act of grandstanding.Right in line, of course, with American policy toward the Church abroad for decades. We have aided and abetted its destruction with great consistency across multiple decades and administrations.
