We reported this via letter to our parish (Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Everett), but thought it might be uplifting for some readers out there as well.
My wife and I had trouble having our first child. After 2 miscarriages we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl in January of 2013. So when we found out we were pregnant again this year, we were afraid of another miscarriage. We went in to see the OBGYN and discovered via ultrasound that the gestational sack had almost completely collapsed and there were only remnants of a baby. The doctor scheduled a D & C (dilation and curettage) for a couple days later. For anyone who doesn’t know, a D&C is the removal of a dead baby from the uterus. That Sunday (Divine Mercy Sunday) we availed ourselves of the parish’s Prayer for Healing team after Mass, where my wife, two team members, and I prayed fervently to Mother Mary to intercede for us and our baby. It seemed fitting as she is both the patroness of our parish and because of the nature of our suffering. That Monday, the day before the D&C, the doctor called us personally (not his office staff as is usually what happens) and told us “something” was telling him we needed to take another look. When we went in Monday, the gestational sack was fully formed and there was a well-formed baby inside with a beating heart! Our doctor said he has no idea what happened and as far as he’s concerned it’s a miracle. For anyone who doesn’t believe in miracles, the power of prayer, or the tangible evidence of Mary’s intercession, like John I am an eyewitness to this event
