Day 4 of Lent
We are now on the 4th day of Lent.
TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE – COLOSSIANS 3:2
THINK OF WHAT IS ABOVE, NOT OF WHAT IS ON EARTH.
This verse reminds me of something I hear Patrick Coffin, the Catholic Answers Live Host and great Catholic apologist, say to some callers during his show, “When you are at Mass, focus your eyes up and not around.”. I have been guilty distracting myself during Mass and wondering why someone is wearing certain clothing, why someone just walked in 15 minutes late, why this person is dozing off, and/or why this person isn’t worshipping the same way I am. This is what Jesus tells us not to do! The Church pews are full of members who are sinners. All of them as a matter of fact. But St. Paul tells us in a letter to the Corinthians, we are the body of Christ and individually members of it. That is a beautiful thing.
When we walk into Church, our eyes gravitate towards the tabernacle. We genuflect to our Lord before we sit down. Jesus truly present in the Eucharist is right in front of us! Know when you enter the Church and see the tabernacle, Jesus has been waiting for that moment you spend with Him for 2,000 years. We can’t waste that moment wondering what others are doing. We must capitalize on the time we spend with Him and focus our eyes and heart above so we don’t get distracted.

- SEND THE BIBLE VERSE TO YOUR SPOUSE, KIDS, OR FAMILY THROUGHOUT THE DAY AS A REMINDER.
- START EACH PRAYER THROUGHOUT THE DAY WITH THE BIBLE VERSE.
- EACH TIME YOU WALK THROUGH A DOORWAY, REPEAT THE BIBLE VERSE.
