Minute Lenten Reflection

tcmspromo

Friday After Ash Wednesday

I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.

Ephesians 3:16–17

My spiritual director once asked me how God had revealed himself to me. At that moment, I didn’t think God had. As I thought about it, however, I recalled a time in a hospital room when I was recuperating from a stroke. I experienced a strong sensation that someone else was in the room with me, standing at my bedside, watching and waiting. I felt protected and safe. I knew that God was loving me and that I wasn’t alone.

Such experiences are God’s self-revelation to us. As we compare them with how God has revealed himself in Scripture, slowly we come to know God as he is.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for showing yourself to me.
