America, Then and Now

tcmspromo

Then:“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower, New Age Hippie PeacenikNow:“Every dollar spent on health benefits for retirees is a dollar we can’t spend training and equipping men and women to deal with the Islamic State, Putin and other threats.” – Brave donor of other men’s blood Charles Lane in the WaPo the other day.  He has, needless to say, never served and you can bet that he is not interested in being gassed for being a pesky old person using up precious war resources on stupid “health” issues.  Lane understands that, whether by ordering their death on the battlefield or in a euthanasia clinic, you save your own worthless skin by making other people die for their country.  Or at least for Charles Lane.Oh, and do remember that a lot of those health benefits Mr. Lane resents are for vets who got chewed up in wars chickenhawks like him sent them to fight, and then abandoned to the tender mercies of a Ruling Class that cuts their benefits while voting themselves raises.By the way, this seems as good a place as any to honor my friend Erin Raymond’s family, who have actually made the sacrifices so that parasitic cowards like Mr. Lane can live their fat, dumb and happy lives. God love you guys
